LOAN EXPENDITURE
Large Sums Diverted to Road Making. An important disclosure with respect to the North Island Trunk Eailway Loan will be made in the House next week. It appears that a sum of £40.000 has been spent from this fund in making roads towards the line in the Wanganui district, and snagging the Wanganni Iliver, £3,000 being devoted to the latter purpose. No wonder the " Post " was anxious that the new Ministers should not waste the time of the country in washing dirty linen in public.
