London, October 9. The " Economist ** states that its criticism of colonial loans has had a distinctly beneficial effect. The Wasp in a 6-gun, screw, composite gunboat, 670 tons, 1,000 h.p., and was on the China Station. Her officers are:— Lieut, and commander, Bryan J, H. Adamson ; sub-lieutenants, Alex. W. Atkinson. and Hon. Win. G. D. Fortesque ; surgeon, Thomas Nunar, M.D. ; assistant paymaster in charge, Newton H. Greenwood ; engineer, Henry Attwell ; gunner, George F. Hodges. The Wasp was commissioned at Sheovness in April, 1887.
