WHO WILL BE PREMIER? SIR JOHN HALL AND MR ORMOND DECLINE.
Some of the difficulties in the way of the selection of Premier of the new Ministry, have been removed. Sir John Hall and Mr Ormond have both stated that; they will not accept office. It is now considered aimpst certain that Major Atlrinston will be chosen Premier and Sir Whittaker Attorney-General.
i The Premier's Intentions. Sir Robert Stout will not leave hero before Monday, the Governor having asked him to remain till the new cabinet is formed.
Arrival of Southern Members. There was quite a scene on the wharf at noon, when the s.s. Penguin arrived with the Southern members. Naturally, JVIr Allen, who defeated the Premier, claimed most attention.
Mining Statement. Mr Larnach informs me that he has prepared the Mines Statement. > As it contains a deal of interesting; information, he will ask the permission of the House to lay ifc on the table.
Tiie Ministerial Party. Ministers say they have a compact following of Canterbury and West Coast members,
