Moore, of Waiiii, Una been appointed manager of the Prospector's mine, of which ho will take charge next week, when m-live mining operations will begin. The first, work to he undertaken will ho that of breaking out about 5 tons of ore, which vrill be sent to the Thames, where it is to be rod nee I, sampled, and assayed vrith a view to learning its bulk value before it is finally dispose I of locnlly or shipped lor salo to one of tho foreign rre markets. Next in order will be the diiving of a level so as to tap tho lode At a depth of about lOOffc. beneath the aurfuce, and it is to be hoped that the results will be equal to the expectations of all concerned. There is one thing certain that Mr Moore would never have given up his billet ai Waihi to take charge of Mcßrinn's mine if he had not pinned hia faith on its future, and the very fact of his being there will go a long way towards convincing outsiders that tho place is worth developing.
At the Warden's Court, Thames, on Thursday last, the following Applications were grnnted :— Licensed holding, Josephine, Karangahalce. Special clni-n, Silverton Extension, Waihi, grantel to J. A. Pond. Prot ction for two months for Uosemont and Amaranth mines, Knrangahake, granted to J. F. CiftiKe. Prospectors Claim, Whangnmatfi. grnnted J. Mo Williams and M. Kelly. The case of Thos. Sncll v. Rich ard Me Brinn vras, after a good deal of evidence had baen given, adjourned on the application of plaintiff's solicitor till 20(.h iiist. The plaint set forth that Mcßrinn had marked out considerably more than 80 acres, and it was desired that the surplus ground should be awarded plaintiff. Mr Bntton(Aucklanil j ) for plaintiff, Mr J.
