Mr Kean efl'ected a .splendid start at the first attempt, The Queen, Lancer and Dividend on the outside jumping first away. The last named almost immediately shot in command, attended by Morok and Here's Luck. These positions only held good to the distance, where Here's Luck, in the centre of the course, dashed to the lead and piloted Di\ idend a neck past the stand, Morok following two lengths away, while at his girths were Lancer, Cardigan and The Queen, and the rear was brought up by Tilda. In the dip Heie's Luck stole away from his field, and at the old milepost was leading Dividend, Cardigan, and The Queen, which were together, by three lengths, next in order and a length away coming Morok and Victory, Frolic and Leichhardt heading the others, which were still whipped in by Tilda. A furlong further on, and The Queen appeared in the lead, and entered on the back stretch two lengths clear, while her nearest attendants could be seen in Victory, Here's Luck and Cardigan, side by side, followed half a length oil" by Morok on the outside, and Pasha singled out last. Passing the six furlongs Tho Queen increased her advantage to three lengths, ond Victory drew out a length in tront of Here's Luck and Cardigan, which were just leading Dividend and Morok together, Frolic and Leichardfc coming next, and Tilda once more being last. The pace waxed very warm at the far corner, where Victory drew up to The Queen, and Cardigan was third attended by Dividend. As they shot past the railway Victory hung out signals of distress, and Dividend and Cardigan appeared at the head of affairs, Victory being third, and waited on a length oft" by Morok, Frolic and Leichhardt. As they raced for tho turn Cauligan forged slightly out and led Dividend half-a-length into tho straight, the beaten Victory still being third in front of Leichhardt and Morok, which were side by side. When they were fairly on the road home young Fielder woke Cardigan up, and shooting clear drew right away, and holding his own ever after, won nearly all out by a length and a half. Morok, which came very fast and finished determinedly, was second, three lengths in front; of Leichhardt. Sorella was fourth, and tho others came home thus .-—Dividend, Pasha, The Jewel, Frolic, Here's Luck, Home Rule, Victory and Lancer, tho last two being The Queen and Tilda. Time, 2niin. 37£ sec.
