Sensational Incidents Connected With His Arrest.
Omaha, .August 13.— The an c»fc of Charles Parker, ,tihe cowboy and highwayman who last spiling robbed Paymaster Hash of §8,000 at .Antelope Spiings, Wy. Deputy ttheiiff Carter with a strong ioq^c undertook to arrest turn on a varraiK chaiging him with the rebbeiy of Paymarloi Ba^h. I'arker fired several shots and ttcod off the pos'-e, after which they let him alone, though he was closely watched. A few days ago thicc men named Bagnell, Luca^ and Johnson went to Parker's store, and getting the diop on him while he was eating his supper, ane^ted him. They claimed to be Deputy United States Marshals but in fact they were frauds, Taking Parker into the hill-;, they robbed him of 2,100d0i5. , and aho of a horse. They then let him go. The horse, however, belonged to another parly, who caused the arrest of Bagnall, Lucas and Johnston at Plum Creek. On Wednesday these men secured their release through the aid of lawyer*, who got most of their money as Tees. Parker, who had followed the three men is far as Gaudy, was arrested there by Sheriff Doane. After a desperate fight Parker drew a revolver and knife, but was fcightly held by Doane. Parker then got one of Doane's fingers in his mouth and held it there nnd severely stabbed him in the other arm. A crowd disarmed Parker, who still held on to Doane's finger and \ would not let go until pomeone ran a knife j into hi 3 throat. He was bound hand and foot and taken to North Platte last night. A writ of habeas corpus was sworn out there and his bail fixed at §2,500, which he could not givo. He will be taken to Cheyenne. Paymaster Bash, it will be remembered, j was tried by court-martial for negligence, j and has been suspended until the amount stolen by Parker is made- good to the Government.
