OHINEMURI. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) P aero a, Friday.

A special sitting of the Native Lan vis Court commenced here on Wednesday last, before Judge Mair and Karaka Kereru Teieuheti (native assessor). Messrs. W. Swanson j'inr., and C. T. Dearie officiated as interpreter and clerk to the Court respectively. Several succession orders nave already been granted to natives who are interested in largo blocks of land in this neighbourhood, and yesterday the Court was occupied with the work of sub-division in respect of land upon which Government lias a lien, and Mr. G. T. Wilkinson, Land Purchase Agent, appeared to watch the case on behalf of the latter.

OWHAROA. The proprietors of the "Mo and liowo " claim are milking 1 very good headway with the construction of the tramway to connect their mine with the Hmile of Fortune battery. The total length of this line will be about 20 chains, and fully one-fourth of that distance has already been finished, and should the weather prove favourable, it will be ready for I radio iv about, fourteen day's time. At this mine there is now to grass about 25 tons of good crushing dirt, which was broken out from a lode channel, averaging 4. It. in thickness, and upon which active stoping operations

will bo skirled as soon as the above mentioned surface work has been brought to ii close. In the Smile of Fortune mine, Fanner and party, hibutera, are nnviug and atopi ig on ilieir ore bo>ly, whiuu avenges i ft. in thickness, and lio.ti which they have already got about ;>0 tuns of stuff broken out. W A I II i. The only work going on in this district at tlio present time is that now underway iv the Martha mine, v\hero there are eevcral parties at woik on the tribute system, ami they are keeping 20 head of stampers at the Company's battery fully employed iv tho reduction of payable crushing dirt.

AIAIUTOTO During the past week there has been a considerable increase to the population of this placo especially m tlu Jiicution of Peel's creek, where there is now an established digger's camp, numbering at least a dozen different touts and wlurus. At tiiis place Mclbaaci and party lmvo opened up a reef about tt i'eet thicit and from which handsome mortar and dish prospects of gold are equally obtainable. Although there is no gold or indications of the presence of silver showing in the stone broken ouo from the lode, the bunging wall poition is exactly like that o it he prospectus, which tends to strengthen the beliut that it is identical with, and the southern continuation ot Hie same lode. The channel of country is very favourable to the existence of the king of metals and as there are no less than six distinct lodes already defined in this locality, carrying more or less geld throughout, there is eveiy probability of the pLco proving' to be a bullion piodueer of no mean capacity. Woik is. the one thing* requued to biin^ about its ilevclopemenfc as a gjldikld, but beyond surface fossicking* there is wry little bein>{ ilune in Lii.it direction nor i J theio likely to be much moie tvijile tno (question of title to the. ninjuii'y of tne claim' still h ings in the b dauto.
