PURCHASE OF ORE FOR SHIPMENT.
Messrs. John Phillips and Sons, Paeroa, arc amongst those who have for seme time past turned their attention to the important quostion of how the best results are to be obtained from ores proved beyond a doubt to be of groat value, but from which but a very inadequate return is obtainable by any process of treatment available in New Zealand, owing to the refractory nature of the ore 3. The firm referred to, as the result of communications with agents in London, have completed arrangements, whereby they are now prepare.! to pui chase for cash at a per centage on Iho estimated value of the ore as the result of assay tests, provided that the average value shall be not less than £25 per ton. The owners of the Ivanhoo mine have, we understand, intimated they can supply a considerable parcel, which will exceed the required standnrd. It is sincerely to be hoped that Messrs. Phillips and (Sons' efforts in the direction indicate i, will load to some satisfactory results. The shipment Home of valuable ore in quantity, must of necessity attract the attention of capitalists to U)Q district from whence it came.
