Proposed Importation of Kaffir Shearers.
At a meeting of stockholders of the West Coast and Gawler Ranges, Soutn Australia, held on August 20th, it wt\s urged that ns shea ing cost considerably less in our great rival, South America, where it is done by women, 15s per hundred was a fair price here, considering
the times sheep fanners had been passing through ; and that if found necessary the general committees in South Auatraliu, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and New Zealand should take united action for 1888 to introduce a sufficient number of Kaflirs to begin with the June shed, and work south, finishing in New Zealand in January, anu 1 thence to be shipped home.
