Capture of a White Woman From the Blacks.
The Xormanby pulice have just brought into Cooktown a white lonian aboufc 50 years of age, who lias been living with the blacks for years. The only Engli-h v/oul she can sny is " potatoes." The police captured her in the blacks' camp, thice mile« down the JSormandy reiver fiom the tligjfin»s. The blacks attacked the police uhile biinging the woman down on hoipeback. Becoming frightened, she fell ofi', and was dragged along by the "-addle and much hurt.
Later. Further pai ticulars relative to the capture of a white woman aie to the effect that when the police -were bringing her into Cooktown the blacks made two attempts to rescue her on the road. The police fired at them, and this set the lior.se bucking and threw the women, who was se\eiely injured about the head and bhouiclers. She was taken to the Cooktown hospital, and was not expected to live over to-do y. Dr. Khorteun, directly he saw the woman, pronounced her to be an albino. The same woman was keen by a party of whites about 11 years ago. The blacks say the woman }• d a brother who was. of the same colour. He died .some years since, having been burned to death in a bush fire.
