Had Learned Another Way.
One winter evening, not many years ago, at Doylestown, Perm., three young Lawyers were seated at a table in the law libraryroom playing cards. One of them had recently been admitted to practise law, and during tlie evening ho frequently used the expression, "It is me." The incorrectness of the phrase grated upon the ears of the other two lawyers, and at last one said : "Joseph, don't you know you are frequently saying, • It is me,' when you are well aware you should say, ' It is I ?" He replied, " Jacob, I know I should say, 'It is I,' but I s.ay it incorrectly from habit." Jacob said, "I think I can aid you in saying it correctly if you will only commib to memory the rhyme, ' It is I, said the spider to the fly.'" 11 Well, thab would aid me, I admit," said Joseph, "if I had not committed another rhyme when a boy." Inquired Jacob, " Well, what was that ?" Joseph said, u 'It is me, said the spider to the flea.'"
No need for Chinamen to leave their own country. The coal lands of China are five times as extensive as those of all Europe, while her gold, silver, lead, copper, tin, iron, and marble deposits equal those of any other country.
