A MINING DIFFICULTY. Greymouth, Sept. 5.
A deputation of three Kumara miners waited on the County Council and invoked their co-operation and as&istance in enabling them to fight their case against Passmorc'B application to restrain them sinking' their tailings into the Teiemakau. They strongly condemned the Land Boards for selling land on the rher bank, and fche Government for allowing 1 it to be sold when it was known 20 yeais ago that miners had no other place for their tailings. One delegate said Paabmore's action was only the begiuning of the trouble. If they bought him out then most of the others would present similar claims, and if Vassmore was successful it meant stopping all mining in Kumara district. The Council will take a legal opinion as to whether they can grant any pecuniary assistance but in the meantime will head a committee to attend the Conference of local bodies en the matter.
