SAD END OF AN AUCKLAND GIRL. Wellington, August 29.
Some comment has been caused by the fact that an inquesc in not to be held on ihe body ol a young woman named Sarah Hadfield, who died in the Hospital on Thursday. The physician who attended her before she went into the Hospital has certified that the cause of death was alcoholism, and the coioner has decided therefore not to hold an inquiry. In lading out the body it was found (bo be very much bruised, and one of the deceased's companions hap reported that a few days before the girl died she was ill-treated by a young man in town. The impression has got abroad that her death was caused or accelerated by this ill-treatment, and people are wanting to know why an inquest has not been held. The unfortunate girl was 22 years of age, a native of Auckland, and was living in an establishment here kept by the wife of an Auckland tradesmen.
