London, August 18. Stanley reports that, he arrived at Yambuca on June 19 ; all well. The New Zealand Antimony Company has been registered. London, August 19. News has been received that the Inman line steamship City of Montreal has been burnt at sea. The crew and passengers, with the exception of thirteen who were lost, have been landed at Queenstown. Banian has sailed for Australia. Before leaving, he stated that it was probable he would take up his residence in that country. . London, August 18.
Further details of the loss of the City of Montreal state that she was burnt on the 1 lth instant. One of the boats, containing seven passengers and six of the crew, was swamped, the occupants being drowned. London, August 20.
Several fires occurred simultaneously among the cargo of cotton stowed in the hold of the City of Montreal when the vessel was four hundred miles from Newfoundland. There was no sign of panic, and both crew and passengers worked nobly for hours in blinding smoke, but at daybreak they were compelled to take to the boats, and in the hurry to do so nineteen of the passengers were nearly left behind. A passing barque rescued all those on board with the exception of the occupants of one boat. London, this day.
The missing boat containing survivors from the burning of the ship City of Montreal on the 11th inst, has been picked up. Those on boaul had suffered terrible privations for four days, before they were rescued. This boat parted company with the others after abandoning the burning vessel, and it was feared that it might be lost. London', August 22. Sir Graham Berry has asked Mr Goschen, Chancellor of the Exchequer, whether the English Government will contribute £5,000 towards defraying the cost of an Antarctic exploring expedition, provided that a similar amount is contributed by the Australian colonies. Two hundred members of the House of Commons have signed the memorial to Piesident Cleveland urging that all disputes between England and America should be referred to arbitration. London, August 23.

Sir Charles Gavan Duffy has devised a Home Kule constitution for Ireland, mainly founded on the constitutions of the colonies. It has been arranged that a deputation of members of the House of Commons shall visit America in October next with a view to presenting to the Congress of the United States a memorial in favour of a treaty being concluded between that country and England for the settlement of all international disputes by arbitration.
