THE "FORGED LETTER" IN THE "TIMES." The Writer, the Seller, and the Price Discovered.
Mr Chance, M.P. for South Kilkenny, the well-known Dublin solicitor, who acted for Mr William OBrien in the Cornwall and French scandal, was a speaker at a great Liberal conference held at Glasgow on June 4th. In the course of his speech he announced that " they were in a position to say who wrote the letter, the man who brought it to the " Times," and the price that) paper paid for it." He described the conduct of the Unionists, the Tories, and the "Times" as dishonest and disgraceful. However, the Irish party could treat the London " Times " charges with the utmost indifference. They recollected that every great movement of this country had had its bitterest opponent in the " Times."
