A New York Cathedral.

The Protestant Episcopal Church of tho United States is preparing to build a cathedral in New York city, to be called St. John the Divine, which will be four times the size of St. Patrick's Cathedral, now the largest church in New York. It is to be raised at a spot lying to the west; of the Central Park, and will cost 10,000,000 dollars.

Josef Hofman, the nine-year-old Polish pianist, made his London debut on June 9, at the Prince's Hull. He is a round-faced, ruddy-cheeked boy with a prodigious memory. He has a charming touch, and almost the tone and power of a man, and even if he were a grown artist, he would etillbe considered a clever pianist. His improvisation was, however, a failure.
