London, July 2.1.— The result of thcHanlan-(iauda-ur boao race, in which the former was declared the winner, is looked iipon with the greatest suspicion in aquatic circles throughout America and England, and it is, in fact, considered to ha\e been nothing moreorless. than whatis known in Americans a "hippodrome." The race, which was for the sculling championship of Ameiica, and a stake of LI, OOO, -was i owed c*er the Pullman course on Saturday, \nd icfculted in Hanlan winning 1 . Jacob Gaudaur kept a long way out of his proper ooui&c, and when he had got only half the distance he was loudly called upon by the bpectators to keep to his proper course, but he took not the slightest heed ot any warnings. He finished hilly a quarter of a mile out of his couise, but neatly onale\el with Hanlan. The umpire disqualified Gaiulaur for not keeping his proper course. Gaudaur's backer was appealed to as to what instructions he had f^iven him, or in what way he had 01 deled. the iace to bo rowed ; but he declined to make any statement, and said that the race had been loft because the conditions of the water wwe all in favour ot Hanlan winning.
