(Per s.s. Mararoa.) The Kimberley (Goldlicld.
Mr J. H. Parley, a reliable man, writing from Hall's Creek. Kimberley, on May 14, writes as follows about the rich discoveries that are being made : ~ " Reeling 1 is looking up wonderfully well. I K. (John, a Sydney man, has again arrived from the south, and ho and his mates have machinery on the road ior their reef, which i& .showing well. A good reef has been found on the .south of Jackson's line, by James Smith Black. The prospecloi's claim is known as & onnt Reef, and the results would astonish you. A great many claims ha\c been pegged oft on both aides', and on the same line another paity (Mr Hei'hon) has struck it rich : u liilst Lamond, Boyd and party have a splendid slioa\ . Tarn in this. It 1^ a 'blow up.' We got grand specimens on the surface, and the gold show a well in all the stones for a depth of over '20ft., with strong indications of getting bettor. No doubt this will turn out a very rich claim, as the ravens were worked up to the crop on both sides of the hill. Hall's Creek is looking up in reeling, and 1 'think it will be one of the loading places on the field, although several other rich reefs have been found lately. Jackson's, 1 expect, will be floated by the time you get this. They have about 100 tons of .stone at grass, which should give from AOw.. to .Vkiz. to the ton. Of course the Lady Margaret reef wants no ' blowing ' about. She speaks for heiself, and will be one of the gems of the lot. It is hold by half-a-dozen ftead} men, and they must Ime ' dollied' out already a large quantity of gold, j calculate the t»tone they have now at gia&s '"ill letum when crushed some thousands of pound-- sterling. Mount Dockerell, a magnificent and fabulously rich reef, has been struck. It i.-* about GO miles duo south of Starvation Creek where we camped to long —and some 80 miles from l\eve. The quart/ is pure, with lumps of gold showing out in it all. The owners have christened it the 'Victorian,' and specimens will be sent to either Melbourne 01- Sydney. It i- repotted that one man, a hatter, ha*? pegged out a claim near this one, on the same line, from which he has 'dollied' and washed 2000/. of gold. " Altogether, things are looking up most encouragingly after the alluvial ha.-> proved a faihne and died out. Now a iresh Hie hiii> been lit and a mania has sent in for reefs.''
