A marvellous Juvenile Oracle.
There is living at Bridgeport, Connecticut, a little child oraclo. At least the American papers say so. Miss Mosella Prout, 9 yearsold, has recently developed a mysterious: method of penetrating futurity, into whichshe peers with a remarkable degree *>f certainty, foretelling events minutely and locating the time of occurrence with as<tonishing correctness. A singular freak: ' connected with the child's prognostications is that she will speak freely. Recently- £ Mrs Smith asked the little oracle when sh&< would hear from her husband, who is at>Los Angeles :— " To-day afc noon" was the reply, " and 'the letter will contain a postoffice order for 20dol." At 12 o'clock the postman handed Mrs Smith the promised letter. The other week she told her mother to prepare places* for her axint and uncle, who would arrive from Cornwall in time for supper. To humour the child the parent did as requested, and as the family gathered in the dining-ioom the door-bell rang and the Cornwall relatives, hungry and tired, were ushered into the house. Mr Prout went trouting, and little Mosella, in fancy, followed him throughout his entire jaunt over marsh, brook, and meadow, exclaiming at intervals with childish delight—" Oh, papa has caught another !" Finally, the child remarked that " Papa was almost home and had 11 trout- in his basket." Five minutes later Mr Proub appeared with 11 splendid trout, ; nd when linformed of his child's predictions, declared that they were all true.
