Alleged Extensive Forgeries in Melbourne.

With refeuenoe to the arrest in Sydney of a person supposed to be J. H. Btaurenghi, of Geelong, on a charge of forgery, a warrant was issued at the instanco of the Union Bunk, Melbourne, and the alleged forgery is in connection with a bill for LI, OOO, which Staureaglu gave to the manager of the Union Bank at Geelong, in reduction of an overdiaft of several thousand pounds which he had been allowed by the bank. The bill purported to be signed by a settler in New South Wales. It is alleged that it is a forgery. It is stated that other charges of forgery are to be brought against Staurenghi, involving altogether Lo,l/00 or L 6,000. tttnurenghi has been a resident in Geelong many years. He was a partner in the linn of Synnott, Everingham, and Co. He di.sappeaied from Geelong very suddenly. On the 14th inst. telegrams purporting to be from him were received from Mount Gambier, and an officer of the Union Bank went to Adelaide in search of him, but without success. JSlr Judge Worthington gi anted a rule nisi for the sequestration of Staurenghi's estate, on the petition of the Union Bank, on the ground that he had absented himself from his premises with a view to delaying and defeating hi& creditors.
