Attempted Murder and Effected Suicide.

.ADhLum:, Tuesday. A deed doubly-dyed -with blood, which resulted in one death and will piobably be the cause of another, in reported from Kedhill, in this colony. Near that place is the farm of one MXUUon. This farmer has a daughter to whom a man named Henry Holland is said to lun c been paying attention. It is belie\ed that the parents of the girl were averse to the advances of Holland. Whate\ or the cause, yesterday afternoon Holland arrived at tho house of M'Gilton while the latter was absent. He appeared to be beside himself with fury. The iirst person he mot was Mr? M'Gilton, whom he felled with a heavy blow. Mi&s M'Gilton rushed to her mother's assistance, but was immediately seized by the murderous wretch. tie drew a razor from his pocket, and holding her with one arm, attempted to cut her throat. She struggled violently in his grasp, and managed to evade an immediately iat.il stroke. But she received a terrible gash on the back of the neck, also be\eial severe cuts on the arm. The blood poured profusely forth from the wound in the neck, and the would-be murderer, thinking that he had accomplished his fell purpose, chopped the now senseless girl, rushed outside the house, and cut his own throat. He died instantly. Mrs M'Gilton has recovered from the effect of the blowshe leceived, but Miss M'Gilton's life hangs but by a thread.
