She struggled violently in his grasp, and managed to evade an immediately iat.il stroke. But she received a terrible gash on the back of the neck, also be\eial severe cuts on the arm. The blood poured profusely forth from the wound in the neck, and the would-be murderer, thinking that he had accomplished his fell purpose, chopped the now senseless girl, rushed outside the house, and cut his own throat. He died instantly. Mrs M'Gilton has recovered from the effect of the blowshe leceived, but Miss M'Gilton's life hangs but by a thread.
