A Horn Growing From the Human Head.
An interesting addition lias ]\\>i been maao to the musoHin of the Hospital Saint- Louis in Paiis in the shape of a strong 1 and solid horn, "which has been sutgieally removed from tho head of a woman lesiding at Hyeres, in the Riviera. This appendage gicw fiom the seal;), wa.s twenty-one eentimeteis (eight inches) long, and in appearance and consistency resembles the horn of a goat. This defoimity is raie, but not so much so ab is goneiall,> imagined. Cloquet, the eminent anatomist, lecords a case, and Peniarquay has collected fifty nine cases. The late Sir Erasmus "Wilson give« a very complete account of the deformity in the twenty-seventh volume of tho " Translations of the Royal Medical arid Chirurgical Society." Out of ninety cases mentioned therein, forty-four were in females, thirtynine in males, and the box of seven is unrecorded. In the New York "Medical Repository " of 1820 is described the ease of a man from whose forehead grew a horn which had three branches and was fourteen inches in circumference. These giowths have their origin is diseased sebaceous glands, and their treatment i<* removal. It is necessary to destroy all remains of the offending sebaceous glands or recurrence may happen.
