Smith, a couple of months back pro mised to come and inspect the auriferous deposit lecendy discovered at Waito.i, reached there on Friday Ist insfc ; leaving again on list Thursday morning for Thames, an I Auckland. During his stay the Professor carefully examined the deposit on Mr Smith's pioperty, and the formation of the county generally. I [is report thereon is not \et completed, hut Mr Smith informs us as follows : That the Professor was astonished as well as satisfied with the deposit and its extent, an 1 believes it will prove well worth working, although no very licli finds noed be looked for, the gold being so thoioughly distributed through the deposit.
