THE MAN WITH THE NOSE. Close of the Career of an Eccentric French Ac or.

M. Hyacinthe Duflos, popularly known as Hyacinthe of the Palais Roytile, who died suddenly lately, was a character so pre - eminently Parisian that a fewparticulars concerning him may prove interesting. Of him it might be truly said that his monumental nose was a fortune nofc only to himself, but to dramatic authors who wrote for the popular theatre to which Hyacinthe was attached. Whether the piece in which Hyacinthe played was good or bad, his appearance, thanks chiefly to his nose, was a signal for loud laughter, which spread from the ranks of unsophiscatecl strangers to those of the blase habitues of the Palais Royale. Hyacinthe was one of the most eccentric persons imaginable. In private life he dressed atrociously, and walked about Paris in a greasy overcoat, the pockets of which were generally stuffed with provender of all kinds, while a huge black felt; hat, larger than that affected by Theophile Cavities, decorated his massive head and overshadowed his gigantic nose. He liad an appetite equal to that of Garganbua, and, according to the tradition, spent hours over his meals. He died in a house at; Asniers in a manner which, considering his gastronomical tendencies, may be called in harness, for he was engaged in cabnly partaking of his evening soup when the summons came to join the innumerable caravans.
