AUSTRALIAN NEWS. A Tragedy in Sydney.

It was leportecl to the City Coroner that a woman named Eli/a Borsboom had &hot herself dead at the Great Australian Coflee Palace, Ca-^tlereagh-street, Sydney. The circumstances reported to the police are of an extraordinary nature, and the motive of the rash act is ascribed to jealousy, by the victim, of her husband. The latter it. proprietor of the coffee palace named, and states that his wife had been so much influenced by jealously that she lived apart from him some time ago. She, hoy.ever, returned, but yesterday stated her intention of leaving him again, and packed up her clothing and effects for that purpose. With the alleged intention of frightening her out of this notion, he went to the shop of Edward L. Brown, 40, Park-street, purchased a British bull-dog revolver and box of cartridges, and took them home, placing them in a drawer in his bedroom, in the presence of his wife. He then told her that if she did not abandon the idea of leaving him, he would shoot himself, but positively states he had not the slightest intention of doing so, but only *lesired to frighten her into submission. About a quarter to G this morning he left his bedroom for the purpose of calling some of tho servants (to commence their daily work), and when he returned, found his wife sitting up in bed with the revolver in her hand. She said, "You need not shoot yourself," and pointing the revolver to her head, fired. The bullet entered her right temple, and lodged in the head.
