A PLOT AGAINST THE CZAR. A Nihilist Precaution.
The St. Petersburg correspondent of the " Times" writes :—ln: — In connection with the rumour that the would-be regicides captured two weeks ago intended to get themselves arrested out of unwillingness to commit the crime for the perpetration of which they had been chosen, and in order to escape being despatched by their confederates in case of failure, I have been informed of the following curious arrangement imposed upon its wretched instruments by the Assassination Committee of the Nihilist party, Each man was found to have a small bottle containing most active poison suspended by the neck, and hung next to the bare skin. In case of failure, or refusal at the last moment to accomplish their infernal task, secret agents of the party, who were on the ' watch all the time, were to strike the chest of the faint-hearted or unsuccessful assassin, thus smashing the bottle, and causing , the poison to enter the wound made by the,, broken glass. Experts declare, that the explosion of either bombs would have killed everybody within a radius of 28ft.
