Wellington, May 12. H. J. Rodgers, draper, who occupies a», good position in one of the leading firms, here, was arrested, on a warrant issued afc. Christchurch, on a charge- of conspiringwith others to defraud, by means of a. sweep, to the amount of £2,000, contraryto the Gaming and Lotteries Act. A man» named Bicby, alias Stapleton, is in custody at Chriatchurch on. the same charge.. Thecaae has been remanded till tomorrow.,, bait being allowed in £MM).
