Since writing last week, Harry Skene, owner of the Eclipse mine, treated at 2 cwt, parcel of stone for the handsome return of 12oz retorted bullion worth about 54s per ounce. Tho only other mining centre which appears tohave escaped qnite free from the ravages of the late gale was Owharoa at which place little or no tlamago has been sustained. r Ferguson and party , trib^ters in the .Smile of Fortune mine here cleaned up a trial crushing of general dirt on Tuesday last, for a return of 19oz 16dwts I bullion, which, on melting and assaying
by Mr Rhodes, Bank of New Zealand, Paeron, fetched 44s per ounce, . Farmer and party tributers in the same mine, obtained 6 ounces of retorted bullion from the treatment of a parcel of " tip head" stuff which I believe is just about payable. The ordinary monthly sitting of the R.M. Court, which was notified to take place here on Monday last was then, on account of MrStratford's buggy accident, adjourned till Wednesday last, has again been adjourned till 26th insfc., much io tho disgust of those who travelled some distance to attend the court.
