A Fortune for Sir Charles Dilke.

The London correspondent of the " Liverpool Mercury " writes : Providence tempers the wind to tho shorn lamb and gives Sir Charles Dilke a great consolation. One of . the indirect results of the Crawford divorce suit is that Sir Charles is to-day the possessor of a handsome fortune which would never have been his had the verdict gone in his favour. His cousin, John Snooke, of Belmont Castle, had intended to leave all his fortune to the children of Mr Ashton Dilke. So moved, however, was he by the Craw lord case that, amending in June last his will by a codicil, Mr Snooke changed the disposition of his propei ty. He 101 l an estate worth bomo l" 140,000 to Sir Charles for life, with remainder to Sir Charles*, bon, if that son comes of age, and only in case of the premature death of that son to the children of Mr and Mr& Kaston Dilke. In his will Mr Snooke declares that he has changed his intention as to the disposal of his property because he believes tiuly that Sir Charles is an innocent man, wionged by those who should have stepped in to protect him from calumny. _ One wijl be anxious to see whether this accession of fortune leads to any change in the int.ntiod of Sir Charles to become a powei bs means of journalism. 1 imagine that it m ill not alter his fixed rebohe. Such a man, >,o full of energy, must work, and must do m hat seems to him useful work, if In 1 is (o li\e \\i(h any sense of .satisfaction.
