Death of Another Native. (BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT). Russell, April 9
The Rev. Rupeno Paerata died at his residence* at Paihia at one o'clock yesterday. He was ona of the party at Archdeacon Clarkes dinner a week ago, and partook of the fatal beefsteak pie. I also learn that Sydney Katene, son of Wironra Katene, late M.H.R. for the Northern -Maori district, has suffered a rcfcipse at Ohaeawai, and is dangerously ill. He also was present at the dinner, but states that he diet, hot partake of the pie. It is quite possible that he may be speaking the troth, and his illness may bo the result of imagination.
