Near Shelba reef a oity called 'Barberton has Bprung up as if by magic, numbering already 7,000 to 8,000 people, and is rapidly increasing in population. The report conoludea by cautioning persons without means not to venture into the gold country unless they be thoroughly practical miners,' as the conditions existing are very hard, and many will be doomed to bitter disappointment.
