An Actress's Earnings.

Mdme. Sarah Bernhardt — if the newa published by the Paris papers be correct— will' have no reason to regret her tour through , South America— at least so far aa its pecuniary success ia concerned. The fair fugitive from the Froncais began this tour in May last, and is now drawing it to a close. The . receipts up to the laat date were as follows t.—Brazil, 404,880 f. ; Argentine Republic* 917,296 f. ; Montevideo* 169,102 f. ; and Chili, 308,185 f. ; total, 1,799,463 f. ; or in round numbers nearly £72,000 Deducting expenses, a veiy handsomo sum will remain for the indefatigable tragedienne. The average receipts of each performance in the countries named were — Brazil, 16,194 f. ; Argentine Republic, 29,590f ; Montevideo, 13,007f. j and Chili, 1i,414f. The piece that produced the most money was " Theodora ;" next on the list was " Fedora ;'* while the " Dame aux Camelias " produced the least. Mdme. Bernhardt baa borne the' trying climate remarkably well. She has been received with the highest honours everywhere, and but for the seriocomic affray she had with a lady rival of the company, nothing has occurred to mar her triumph. It is said on her return to Paris . she will write an account of her adventures, which include many piquant incidents,
