Auckland, March 18. This race meeting yesterday was an unqualified euccee?, and the way it was carried out was a pattern not only to our country cluhe but even more pretentious ones. It is estimated that there were fully a couple of thousand spectators present, and excepting a strong westerly wind that was blowing, the weather was all that could bo desired. All of the races were got off woll to time, and the arrangements of the Railway Department were most satisfactory. The only thing that happened in any way to mar tho proceedings wa3 an accident which befel a man named Samuel Deoty. Just previous to the Railway Stakes he was running across the course, when he collided with Libeller, who was indulging in a pieliroinary gallop, and the consequence was that he was knocked down and sustained concussion. With regard to tho raeinir, there was not a single protest or dissatisfaction ot any kind expressed during tho day. Mr J. B. Williamsons stable was in creatform, the horses trained by him winning four races, while he ran a dead heat for the Cup with Cremorne. A section of the United Band (under Bandmaster Impoy) was attendant wi< h its enlivening strains, and it helped to pleasantly while away tho time. Mr W. W. Robinson, the secretary, and indeed all of the officers of the Club, worked like Trojans throughout, and the great sue cess of the gathering was mainly attributable to their labours. Appended are details of the racing :—: — MAIDEN PLATS of 30sov ; Recond^horao to re coive OBov out of the stakf s Entrance, 30s. W.f.a. For horses that have never won an advertlced race exceeding 20sov. Distance, 1} miles. Mr J. B. Williamsons br q Bangaloro, by Ariel — Queen Mab, 3yrs, Sat lib (Carey) 1 Mr J. Tennyson wad the first to get away, but before many yardd had been traverped, Bangalore went to tha front, and led the fieli past the stand by u length. At the back of rhe couive Bangalore increased his lead to three lengths, and although Howitzer slightly improved his position ho could never get on terms, and Bangalore had no difficulty in running home a winner by three or four lengths. Time, 2min 24see. Dividend, £10 ss. H \N DIUAP HURDLE RACK of TOsovs; second horse to racrive 10?ov3 out of tho stakes. Distance. 2 niilca, over ei^ht flights of Hurdles, about 3ffc Gin high. Mr F. Zip wa? the first away after the flag dropped, but by the time a quarter of a mile had beon traversed Rowdy was taken up to the leader, Passing the stand, Zip and Pipi had command of affairs, Omata lying close handy. At the back of the couree for home Zip still led, but Omata was called on about this juncture, and by the time the home turn was reached was on equal terms with Zip. A great race home ended in Omata winning by half a length ; Evening Star a good third, Time, 4min. 14isec. Dividend, £1 15s.

HENDERSONS MILL CUP of 100 boy ; second horse to rsoeive 15sov, and the third hoise saov out of the stakes. Distance, 1J miles. Mr J. B Williamsons b c Cremorne, by Cadogan— Miss Laura, 3yre, 7st 131b (Carey) t Mr W. Bobbett's br h Libeller, by Traducer — Yatterina, aged, 7st 31b (Hickton) f Mr J. After a deal of trouble with the horses, the flag fell to an indifferent start, The Cat being left at the post. When the lofc were fairly on their legs, Victory's colours were most prominent, but he soon gave place to Reckless, who led Cremorne, Victory, and Libeller past the stand, the others being in a cluster close behind. Round the back of the course, Cannon improvedhis position, while Libeller was lying handy behind Reckless, who still led. The latter, however, shortly died away, and it looked as if the race was going to resolve itself into a struggle between Cannon and Libeller. Entering the home turn, Cannon had a length's advantage of Libeller, but both horses ran out very wide, and enabled Cremorne to get up on the inside. A most exciting struggle ensued down the etraight, ending in the judge being unable to separate Cremorne and Libeller, Cannon being an excellent third, about three-quarters of a length away 1 . Time, 2min. 49secs. The owners agreed to divide the stakes, and the dividends were : £1 Ids on Libeller, and £1 9s on Cremorne. PO3T STAKES of 30sov, w.f.a. 1} miles. Mr A.
