MORRINSVILLE.

' On Saturday last Mr and Mrs W ShepI herd Allen, of Annandale, Piako, gave a tea to those interested in the temperance cause in this district, in the \ Morrinaviile schoolroom ; to which a I large number of invitations were issued. j About seventy sat down to the repast, j which was of a sumptuous character. After full justice had been done to the good things provided, Mr Green moved a very hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Allen, for their kindness in providing the repast, and for the interest they evinced in the cause of temperance ; this wfl9 seconded by Mr Whitburn and carried by acclamation ; three ringing cheers being given for Mr and Mrs Allen and family. Mr Allen replied in suitable torms and said ife was a great pleasure to him to see so many wearing the bit of blue, aud he hoped they would long wear it and bs strengthened by others joining the Army. Later on in the evening the monthly meeting of the Morrinsville brunch of tho Blue Ribbon Army was held in the same building. There was a very large attendance, about one hundred being present. Mr Allen presided, and a long and carefully selected programme consisting of readings, songs, dialogues, and recitations was gone through in a manner that reflected the greatest credit on all who took part ; many of the pieces being most warmly applauded. The meeting was the most successful of its kind ever held at Morrinsville, and Mr and Mrs Allens kindness has been greatly appreciated. Amongst those who took an active part in making the meeting the success it was. I would mention Mr and Mrs Buttle, Mr and Mrs Green, and Warren. — (Own Cor respondent.)
