The first business being the election of Chairman. On the motion of Mr Hotchin, seconded by Mr Comeß, Mr ft Quinn was voted to the chair pro tern. The meeting having been declared open Mr Dobson proposed Mr Frazer as chairman of the Board ; the motion was not seconded, but Mr Comes proposed and Mr Hotchin seconded that Mr Quinn be appointed chairman. For the motion Messrs Comes, Hotchin, and Frazer voted, Mr Quinn therefore declared himseli! as duly elected. Mr Frzaer was appointed Clerk, pro tern. J Mr Frazer raised the question as to whether it would be necessary for another election of a Licensing Committeo, for the Town District to bo held, and remarked the fee for publicans' license in a Town District was JS4O, the same as in a Borough. The chairman said it would be as well to let the subject of a new Licensing Committee drop. Mr Frnzer remarked thoro would be no f resh jroll of ratepapera to compile, this year ; the specified time for so doing being just past. The question of appointing a permanent cleik waa next raised. Mr FruKer re-

Resolved, on the motion of %r Frasser, that tenders be invited* by advertisement in next Saturday's News for filling the office of clerk. s .. The Clerk pro tern was authorised to procure a seal for the Board, the matter of selecting* suitable motto being left to the Chairman and Mr Fruzer. Resolved : Thut one copy each of the | various Acts required be procured. That steps bo taken to rent a suitable room for the use of Board. That the Ageut of the Bank of New Zealand be interviewed relative to granting an overdraft, until some money was received. Considerable discussion took place relative to the day of meeting. Mr Frazer proposed Wednesdays or Thursdays j but Mr Comes and the Chairman objected, on the ground that their work often took them away from the township during the week, but that they generally returned on Saturday evenings, which would therefore best suit them, as it would be a great hardship for them to have to lose time by coming home to attend meetings in the middle of the week. The Chairman proposed, and Mr Comes seconded, that the monthly meetings of the Board be held on the last Saturday in each month at 8 p.m. The mover, seconder, and Mr Hotchin voted for the proposition, which was declared carried. The meeting then adjourned till Saturday evening, 26th inst.
