Terrible Struggle for Life.
London, February 24. In addition to those survivors of the immigrantship Kapunda who were landed at South America, some have been landed at Lisbon Cotteroll, the mats of the Kapunda, in an interview, stated as .follows :— "l'saw tHe Melmoro for the first time only ,a moment before th 9 collision, and at that" time, it wag impossible to avert the danger.! Immediately upon the fearful shock, the Kapunda heeled over to starboard, her decks burst, and she sank. I was sucked down a great depth, and then, rose entangled in the rigging. ' The ■ shrieks, of the masses of drowning, people. wer,e terrible. I managed to free myself from the rigging and clutched a cask. A, boy swimming alongside ofc me was jaeijsed bj a, shark, and I saw' others share the, same fate, finally I was reacue'd in an exhausted state by a boat from the Melmore. It was a oase of each one for himeelf in the terrible struggle for life."
