A Sleeping Beauty.

A singular case of lethargy is reported Irom the French village of Tbenella that throws into the shade all the fasting exhibitions of recent days. L'lndependance IBdge gives the following picturesque account of the modern Bleeping beauty -. "Close to the village fountain is ft little red 'Cottage in which since June 1, 1883, Marguerite Royenval has lain in a deep lethargic sleep. The cottage consists of two ■rooms ; in one the family live?, in the •other, which is cold and damp, the sleeping girl is lying. A feeble light falls through the curiaine of the only window looking upon a little garden. Like the pictures of pale Baints in a Greek church, the figure •of the young girl i 3 set off against the white bedclothes. H6r eyes are closed Does she dream ? Does she think ? Her beauti ful face is quite calm. Sometimts the mother opens the heavy eye?, at which the girl seems to become troubled in her slaep, and her cheeks become slightly tinged with colour. Marguerite is dressed in an Indian costume. Her bands are cold as those of a corpse ; she is very thin ; her breathing is scarcely perceptible, and she ', t'fitfed on nothing but peptone. During the three years that she has been in that state oMethargy ahe has never been troubled by a^ indisposition, and she does not seem ,%o ha.ye grown a day older. A committee ti special physicians is just about to make & catfefu} investigation of the case.

; A peKSon bored by a squinting man, who pMfileted 'in asking questions about his h ,j|f6l^ft^{fe^,' Replied emphatically, "It's v't»He <n?Qoked^-»s you #cc,"
