COMMERCIAL. CAMBRIDGE; Friday.

Alfred Buckland & Co. report:— Thero was a very large attendance of buyers from all parts, at the Ohaupo Annual Sheep Fair, held on Tuesday last, about 200 being present, and bidding was brisk for lots in demand. Of the rams, comparatively few were sold at the sale, but they were mostly sold privately aftetwards. One of Mr C. J. Storey's Lincoln rams brought £2 15^, which was the best price obtained. The same buyer, and also Messis R. Reynolds and A. and J. M'Nico 1 , Bold a number of rams at about £2 2s The best prices obtained for Lincoln ewes were for Mr M'Nicoll's 16s ; the whole of the Hawke's Bay ewes (except 78) about 1700, sold at from 6s to 8s 3d ; the Waikato ewes sold at prices raging from sibout 8s ; comparatively few lambs were sold, but fair prices were retained, ranging up to 10s; the 1000 meiino ewes from JVlorrin and Studhome*s sold in one lot at 4s ; several of the Shropshire Downs sold -at above £2. The cattle sale showed a great improvement on last sale, the bidding being brisker, and improved prices. There was an evident disposition omongst tanners to operate on the market, showing a much better feeling, which it is to he hoped will continue. First class beef was not in demand, but smaller beasts sold up to jC4 10s. The sale was on the whole the most successful the firm have held for some time, and there is evidently an improvement in values of stock.

THAMES CATTLE MARKET. Banks /Nd Co.'s Weekly Report.— • At Parawai on Thursday the yards wera unusually full of fat cattle which had a depressing effect, and some difficulty was experienced in clearing the whole, which was eventually done by accepting somewhat lower prices. We quote steers ht £4 7s 6d to £G 7s 6d ; betters £3 to £3 7s 6d, or from lf>s to 16a per lOOlbs. There was good enquiry for sheep, and an average- market was readily disposed of ut prices which fully uphold labt week's improvement. Wethers made 12s 3d, and ewes from 8s 3d to 11s. Irnnbs were in good demand, and the supply rather whort, resulting in higher values being obtained; ptioes wore from 9s to 10s 9d.
