LATEST FItOM THAMES. Thames, Last Night. Treatment of five tons of quartz from the Adeline mine, Karangaliake, .was finished at the Aloanatairi battery last evening 1 , for the return of 570z 14dwts, retorted gold, which was afterwards melted into an ingot, weighing- 570z, the gold is of good value, and upon being assuy?d this afternoon, was found to bo worth £2 17s per oz, at which price it was purchased by the Hank of New Zealand. It will be remembered that a short time ago a simH.tr tonnage of quartz was treated at Hartley's plant, Karangahake, when 83oz 7dwts gold was obtained; 470z lldwts of which was worth £2 12s per oz., and remainder, £2 CM Gd, making a total value of the 5 tons of quartz £195 10s, the parcel just treated at the Mo,tnatairi 1 battery is worth -£149 17s 4d, but the exact comparison becweei the treatment of stuff by liaillcys plant and the buttery cannot be definitely ascertained until the value of the tailings is known. A miner named Wm, Bond was injured this morning while working in ths Waiotohi mine. He had proceeded to ascertain the cause of a shot hanging fire, when it suddenly exploded, inflictiu-* some nasty wounds on his head and face, the injuries are not considered dangerous.
LATEST FROM AUCKLAND, Auckland, Last Night. At Hunter and Nolans to day, the vacing mare Friendship was offered by auction, ami found a purchaser in O. Wright, for 170gs; it is understood the purchaser is acting on behalf of a North Shore spoit.
PRODUCE MARKET. Wholesale butter, prime fresh, Is ; cheese, good factory, 4^d to s<l per lb for Canterbury; eggs, In 9d ; lard in bladders, s^d ; bacon, hams, in cloth provincial, 4d to sd, hams 6d to 6}d. The railway revenue for the pa^t montli shows an increase of £30J3 as compared with last year.
Bucnijeim, Last Night. Hai vesting is practically over. There are splendid props of wheat and barley throughout the district, in frequent instances reaching as high as 50 to 55 bushels per acie. Thcie is a good crop of oats, of which a lirgo quantity is being couvertpd into cha/E for export to Wellington and the West Coast.
Wellington, La't Night. A telegram was received by Government from Admiral Tryon, promising that a w.ir vessel shall bo despatched to Tonga, as soon as the cyclone season is over.
EXECUTION OF CAFFREY AND PiCNN. The gallows to bo used at the forthcoming double execution in Auckland, »vill be despatched iVoni here to night. The ghastly apparatus will be sent by tho Tarawera, whicli will arrive in Auckland just a week before the execution.
