The Austral American Cable.
A despatch from Ottawa, Ontario, January sth, cays the Date Company of ftnglifeh and Canadian capitalists, lately formed to construct a line of cable between Vancouver, 8.C., and Australia, is pushing on its work, and ha 3 applied to the Imperial Government for a vessel to conduct soundings and other work from the eoaat of Auslra ia, and the matter is now undsr the consideration of the Government. Moat encouraging offers of assistance in the way of subsidy have been received from all the Governments with whose territory it is proposed to make connection, and the matter has been placed beyond the possibility of failure.
