The Kind of Cake She Liked.
The young man was evidently honest in his intentions ; but three years of constant courtship had failed to overcome Mb excessive bashfulnees. They wore sitting on chairs a respectable distance apart. Said the young man, having spent five minutes in search of a subject : " How do you get along with your cooking?" "Nicely," replied the young miss j "I'm improving wonderfully. I can make a' splendid cake now." "Can you?" said the young man, in' a pleasant manner. " What kind do you like best?" ' " I like one made of flour, and sugar, and citron, and raisins, aud lots of those things, and beautiful on the top," responded the young miss. " Why, that's wedding-cake !" exclaimed the young man, nervously. "Just what I meant," said^the young mies, ehyly. The banns have been published.
