Conespondone« : Inwnrd — Re nppointiuenfc of a medical man and farther grant of money. — The following letter fiom Govornmenfc with reference to tiie above was read : General Crown Lands Office, Wellington, Dec. 29th, 188 G. S r ii . — I have the honour, by direclion of the IJon. the Minister of Lands, to acknowledge receipt of youi letter of the -Atli inst., submitting a schedule of further works which arc required at the Te Aroha Hot Springs. In reply lam to state that the Government fully recognise the desirableness of the proposed works, but unfortunately the vote for the developement of thermal spring's will not admit of any further expenditure at To Aroha. In fact the vote on the estimates of expenditure from Consolidated revenue will be considerably exceeded at the end of the financial year. With regard to the question of appointing: a resident medical practitioner it is considered that invalids visiting the hot springs should have no difficulty in obtaining the best available medical advice now that railway communication is opened bofcwocn Te Aroha and Auckland. — I have the honour &c, (signed) K. Sale of Bath Tickets.— Messrs Brigham and Harris, whose tender had j been accepted at the meeting of the Board on December 11th for exclusive sale of bath tickets at a remuneration of 2\ per cent, wrote stating that having heard Mr 0. S. Pync purposed suing the Board for damages for not accepting bis tender at 2 per cent, they were willing to resign their claim to the contract. Mr Quinn remarked that at present things were very unsatisfactory with respect to the sale of bath tickets. _It appeared there were none to be had in the office ; and he himself saw a lady ask for a dozen, but the care-taker could not supply them. General Business. — The Secretary stated that on the circular issued he had made a mistake in stating this would be tho animal meeting, which could only be held on the second Tuesday in January. After some discussion this matter was adjourned tilltho a'nnufal meeting on Tuesday. Present Bath Receipts.— < The Secretary on being asked wba't the present rate of income was, stated as follows : for previous four weeks, £12, £19 10s, '£17, £19 respectively, total £G7 10s.
After passing some accounts for payment the mooting closed.
