Sydnkv, January 10. Intense heat has prevailed throughout Riverina for the last few days, and an extenpive bush fire ia raging in the neighbourhood of the township of Tocutnval on the Murray River. An unusual commotion on the sea hasbeen observed at various points on tl c coast. The w«athev generally being calm, it is regarded as betokening some extraordinary disturbance. Melbourne, January 10. The heat throughout Australia has been unprecedented. Two fainl cases of sunstroke occurred in Melbourne to-day.
