ANNUAL MEETING OF CHURCH OF ENGLAND.
The annual meeting of St. Mark's Church, To Arohn, was hold in the Church on Wednesday last, 12th inst., Key. Jas. Marshall presided. There whs rather a poor attendance, hut business was proceeded with as follows : — Mr Burgess was re-appointed minister's warden's and Mr Ahier people's warden. The following were elected members of vestry for ihe ensuing yenr : Messrs Emerson, Heatheotc, Pyne, Marsdon, and Dobson. It was decided to fence in the church site at once, at a cost not to exceed £35, tenders for which are invited by advertisement in this issue. It was alfio thought advisable io, secure 'the parsonage site reserved by the late Warden Kenrick, and it was resolved to take the same up under the goldfields 'title. The site comprises one acre adjoining the Domain, behind the Hospital site. The matter of purchasing an organ was left in the hands of Mi 1 Burgess, who has had tho offer of an excellent instrument on very easy terms. A vote of thanks was accorded to Bishop Cowie for taking tho necessary steps whereby the freehold of the church site has been secured ; also to Miss Ncwby for the tableau entertainment, and to Miss McClatchy for her services as organist. A statement of accounts appears hereunder, and shows f hc position of the finances to be vcy satisfactory ;— St. Mark's Church, Te Aroiia, J3uildFund, 31s? Dec, 1836. Expenditure : By advertising tenders, £4 3s 3d ; Hughes and George, preparing deed loan, £2 12s ; excavating church site, £1 4s ; contractor, £351 ; insurance, £2 2s ; Eraser's account, lamps and Ironmongery, £7 l4s Id ; matting, £3 lls 3d ; labour and timber, fitting lamp?, cupboard, &c, £5 5s 8d ; 4 chairs, '£2 12s ; bank interest, 19s 4d ; Cannell, iron rods, lls 6d ; stamps, Is.
