C. Firth said he considered the offer a very courteous one on the pajrt of the Chamber. After some discussion, on the motion of Cr Firth, it was resolved tb.at the Clerk be instructed to write a letter on behalf of the Ootfncil thanking- the Chamber for their offer, and expressing regret that just at present the \Osuncil did not see their way to appoint a>representaiive. * . •»■? e;4 Upper Hill Track. — A petition was read from twenty Waiorongomai residents, stating thrffc this track was in a dangerous state,- that* on' the lsfc inft. a horse belonging to Mr Jansen, wjiilsfc converying milk to some resident! on the hill, missed its footing, and tilled over the embankment, thereby causing his owner considerable loss, and requesting the expenditure of £10 in repairs. On the motion of Cr J. B. S.nith it was resolved to grant a sum, not exceeding £10 for repairing the track. Wilson's Road. — A reply was read from the Minister of Public 'Wolk'sf to a letter from the Council written at the instance of Cr Chepmeli, suggesting that the land .taken for thfs'ToaiT be vested in the Queen inst|ad'*^f" the Council, etc. Hon.
