Melbourne, December 7. A. deputation from the Preabyterian General Assembly M'aited upon the Minister of Educathn to-day, urging a strong desire of that Church Chat the Education Act bo amended so as to securo introduction of religious instruction into the State schools ; to secure a large measure of local control, and to free the teachers from their present dig abilities in imputing; religious instruction outside school hours. Mr Pearson gave much the same answer as to a previous deputation which waited upon him on the game subject. Ho pointed out the difficultied in the way of granting the requests of cbe deputation, and held out no hope that he would recommend the Government to adopt the vit,ws submitted.
