DOMAIN BOARD.

A special meeting of the llel 1 c Aroha Thermal Springs Domain Board was held in ths Board room on Saturday evening last. Present — Messrs Gavin, Lipsey, Ahier and Quinn. Mr Gavin was voted to tho chair on the motion of Mr Lipsey, seconded by Mr Quinn. Resignation of Mr Wilson as chairman. — The folio wing letter from Mr Wilson was road :—" To Aroha, Dec. 11th, 1886. — Gentlemen : I hereby beg to resign my position as chairman of the Domain Board, and desire to be relieved of my duties as soon as possible. — I remain, yours truly, Geo. Wilson. Proposed by Mr Quinn, seconded by Mr Lipsey, that Mr Wilson's resignation as chairman be accepted with regret. Carried. Appointment of Chairman. —Mr Lipsey moved, and Mr Quinn seconded, That Mr Gavin bo appointed chairman until the annual meeting, when a chairman for the ensuing year will be elected. Advertising — A letter was road from the Waikato Times re advertising the springs for sometime past in that journal, to the effect that the advertisement had been given to Mr Cooper, of the Times. The members of the Board were unanimous in stating that no such advertisement had ever been authorised for insertion in that paper. f It was decided to refer the letter and account for advertising to Mr Wilson, the late chairman, to ascertain whether he had made any arrangements with the representative of the Times to have the advertisement inserted. Sale of bath Tickets : — The following tenders were received for the sale of above on commission : — A. W. Edwards 10 per cent ; A. H. Whitehouse, 7^ per cent ; Brigham and Harris, 2^- per cent ; C. S. Pyne, 2 per cent. A long discussion took place as to whether tho tender should be given to Brigham and Harris or to Pync, tho general opinion expressed by tho members was to tho effect that as the position of Messrs Brigham and Harris's store \v.\s so convenient to the Domain, and more suitable for the interests of the Board, itbhould be given to that firm. Mr Quinn proposed and Mr Lipsey seconded, : That on account of the position being so close to the Domain, the tender of Messrs Brigham and, Harris be accepted. Carried. It was stated that the repairs to tho drinking fountain were now nearly completed, and that the water had been raised to a height of about two feet above the ground, and no signs of breakage were apparent. The Secretary reported that there was a balance of £38 9s 9d at tho Bank. Awnings for seats in the Domain. — Mr Quinn stated he had asked Mr Edwards what the cost would be ioi f awnings over the seats, and he had quoted 12s Gd each. The Chairman was of opinion that the Board should obtain half a dozen awninga, as the young trees planted for the purpose of shading the seats would take another two years before they would be sufficiently grown for the purpose required, and moved that half a dozen awnings ba obtained, price not to exceed 12s 6d each. Seconded by Mr Quinn and carried. It was decided to leave the matter of purchasing and erecting the awnings in the hands of Mr Quinn. Accounts. — Accounts to the amount of £24. were passed for payment.
