The Earthquake.
The late earthquake in New Soutn Wales covered a wide extent of country. The movement originated somewhere in the neighbourhood of Lake George, and it extended to Wag»a Wagga and Jervis Bay in the south, Orange in the north, and JPicton in the east. The ahocks were also some what severe, and they lasted for a considerable time. At one place it is said their duration was fully two minute?, They were most violent at Yas3, Gundagai, and Goulburn. At Junee and Cooma the earthquake was accompanied by a peculiar storm. It is a long time since the colony experienced an earthquake that was capable of cracking ceihugs aud bringing crockery down trom the shelves. The last happened at Gundagai between fifteen and twenty years ago. It caused the surface of the ground to move in an undulatory manner, and it threw an end wall ot one 01 the churches out of the perpendicular. That distiubance, however, was very limited in its area, and the building referred to was the only one it damaged.
