The girl was told to ring the bell when the meal was ready. Pretty soon we heard a lively ringing a,t the door-bell, and on going out what do you suppose we found ? Tha new girl shivering on the porch." " 'Please, sir,' says she, 'I ringed the bell to let you know that dinner ia ready.' "
