Bowler's Road. — The following letter relative to the above road, was read : To the Chairman and Councillors of the Ohinemuri County Council. Gentlemen.— We, the settlers of Lower Waitoa, beg to draw the attention of the Council to the great delay in making the lower drain road, resulting in great inconvenience to this district. We understand the Council have received a promise of £150 from Government, this with the very favourable tender acceptel by the Council subject to receiving the above from Government, should induce the Council to have tliia road made as early as possible, and now is the most *f ßYOurable season, as the swamps are drying up, and plenty of good material can be got nearly the entire length, and will give it time to settle before winter come 3 on. We would strongly impress upon the council, the fact that if this subsidy is allowed to lapse, it will not be renewed on- the two pounds to one pound principle, which would be a very seriou3 loss to this district Trusting you will give it your earnest attention, we remain, your's respectfully. Edward Bowler, John Mellon, Allen A. Bowler, Samuel Francis Scott, C. B. Edwards,, C. B. Edwards, junr. Waitoa, November 22nd, 1886. The letter was received, but having no funds available the council decided they could do nothing in the matter at present.
